Mothers observe fast all day. They used to go to temples before sunrise and pray Ahoi Mata for the sake for their sons. They break their fast after seeing moon in the sky and some families also break their fast by seeing stars in the sky.
Some people also worship Ahoi Mata at their homes. For this purpose, they draw a picture of Ahoi Mata on a wall and place a glass of water on it. You can also get picture of Ahoi Mata from market or can also download it from internet. A red colored thread applied with turmeric powder is wrapped on the water bowl. After that story of Ahoi Mata is said by an elderly lady in the family and all other women listen to this story.
Other essential things that are required to do the puja of Ahoi Mata include grains that have to be placed in center of the picture. In food women used to make puris, halwa, jowar and boiled chana. They also place money before the Mata’s picture. After completing puja, this money is distributed among children.
