Gandhi Jayanti refers to the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the Father of the Nation. It falls on his birthday on 2nd of October. We all know Gandhi Jee’s contribution in the freedom of India. He single-handedly confronted British rulers and did not rest until they were gone. He stood in the crowd because of his simplicity and hard working nature.

Mahatma Gandhi’s strong will power is part of Indian folklores. His full name was Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi and he was fondly known as 'Bapu'. Born on 2nd of October in 1869, in Porbunder, Gujarat, he studied law in U.K and practiced law in South Africa. But he renounced every luxury of life and joined the Indian freedom struggle.

Gandhi ji gave the world wonderful gifts of truth and Ahimsa (non-violence). His most astonishing attribute was his refusal to use violence as a means of struggle. He led a simple life and believed in concept of Swadeshi. He proved to the world that one can have a successful freedom struggle movement even without resorting to means of violence. He also started the 'Satyagraha' movement for the Indian freedom struggle. On Gandhi Jayanti ever year, the President and Prime Minister, along with other eminent political leaders, pay homage at Raj Ghat which is the samadhi of Mahatma Gandhi.
