This is a celebration especially observed in the regions of Hooghly district in West Bengal. In the month of Kartik this festival is celebrated on the ninth day of bright fortnight. This is the festival of high spirit and life which is celebrated all over West Bengal. In Chandannagar, Hoogly this puja is being celebrated with utmost joy, and devotion. Jagadhatri puja actually signifies the worshipping of another form of Devi Durga, the goddess of true spirit. In Chandannagar Jagadhatri Puja is being performed since 1713.

The Jagadhatri Puja 2013 will be seen all over West Bengal. In Kolkata, the capital city of West Bengal this puja is performed with great devotion. The people of Kolkata consider this puja as the revisit of Devi Durga right after her immersion on Vijaya Dashami. It is right that in this city this puja is not celebrated as colorfully as in Chandangagore. But the passion and devotion of the people in this festival remain same. The devotees are offered to take the holy Prasad of the Maa Jagadhatri in every pandals. This is the festival of light and the victory of light over evil and darkness.
